My name is Brian Schumacher, and I am the Advocacy and Community Impact Manager for Autism Society Ventura County. I am writing regarding Agenda Item L, Agreement No. 2026-23 for Healthy Camarillo Consulting Services.

We offer our STRONG SUPPORT of the Healthy Camarillo Initiative and the City’s commitment to addressing mental health, chronic disease prevention, and equitable healthcare access through cross-agency collaboration. This represents an important investment in the long-term well-being of Camarillo residents. We are grateful that the City of Camarillo, Pleasant Valley Parks & Recreation District & the Camarillo Healthcare District are working together to make health a priority! As the consultant begins stakeholder engagement and framework development, we respectfully request that individuals with Autism and other developmental disabilities be intentionally included in the community input process, advisory structures, and program design. Given the initiative’s focus on mental health and equitable healthcare access, disability inclusion must be part of the foundation.

Autism Society Ventura County would welcome the opportunity to serve as a resource, participate in stakeholder meetings, and assist with outreach to people with disabilities and families caring for disabled family members to ensure their perspectives are meaningfully represented.

We appreciate the City’s leadership and look forward to potential collaboration. Thank you for this collaborative effort. It will surely result in a healthy and happier City of Camarillo.

Sincerely,
Brian Schumacher
Advocacy and Community Impact Manager
