Item Number or Subject P. Mobile Home Rent Stabilization Ordinance (City) Position Support
Comments Mayor Tennessen, Vice-Mayor Dr. Martinez-Bravo, Councilmember Trembley, Councilmember Santangelo,
Councilmember Kildee,
Hello, I'm Spencer Richey, as as your taxpaying constituent I demand you vote YES and overall approve the proposed
Ordinance that would add Chapter 10.55 to Title 10 of the Camarillo Municipal Code and establish rent stabilization on mobile home park lands in the City.
Especially in this era of skyrocketing rents everywhere but especially in Ventura County and especially in Camarillo (remember when Camarillo was considered to be the affordable option compared to places like LA and ritzier TO? I do, and I'm only 29!), it just seems cruel to not have something, like a rent stabilization ordinance, protecting those renting some of our last affordable housing.
1 Tons of Camarillans, born and raised here in the US, who've lived here in Camarillo for literally decades and who are firmly rooted members of our community, have been calling these mobile parks home because that's all they can afford here.
We must preserve these working, retired (I know Camarillo likes to at least claim it cares a lot about its seniors!), disabled, and otherwise lower-income Camarillans' ability to live here and keep that element in our community instead of letting Camarillo basically turn into cooler, more humid TO due to gentrification.
Approve the proposed Ordinance adding Chapter 10.55 to Title 10 of the Camarillo Municipal Code and establishing rent stabilization of mobile home park lands in Camarillo.
Sincerely,
Spencer Richey
Highly Concerned Lifelong Camarillan
