Item Number or Subject Crosswalk needed at Ponderosa and Calle De Roda Position Support
Comments A pedestrian crosswalk is sorely needed at the intersection of Ponderosa and Calle La Roda, which would serve residents seeking to cross Ponderosa to Las Posas Plaza shopping
center. Currently, pedestrians must dash dangerously across Ponderosa between gaps in traffic. Members of my household often do this and we frequently see others doing the same. This is very dangerous for all parties involved. The flashing pedestrian signs currently there are not helpful, since in our experience cars do not slow or stop for pedestrians.
We would like (1) in the short term, a pedestrian crossing painted across Ponderosa Road at Calle La Roda and (2)
eventually, pedestrian activated flashing crosswalk lighting to alert drivers of people actively crossing. Please address this public safety issue urgently before an accident happens.
