Item Number or Subject Resolution for phasing out oil and gas production in california Position Support
Comments Thank you council members for reading my comment, as I regretfully cannot make this city council meeting. My name is Madison Mills, a student of Environmental Science at CSU Channel Islands. My studies and volunteer work with many great organizations working to restore natural ecosystems in our lovely city of Camarillo has given me great concern in regards to the oil and gas production taking place here.

With this said, I feel that the resolution of a bill that holds those who have created the pollution in our local environment and communities responsible is vital. Having communities
responsible for the damage their pollution causes doesn’t make sense as the oil and gas companies are the ones profiting.

To hold oil and gas companies accountable for their actions not only makes our communities safer, though may make way to begin to realize the possibilities of renewable energy in our communities. Yet, the damage that’s already been done must first be reconciled, and I feel strongly that it should be those 1 responsible that clean up their mess.

I appreciate you taking this into consideration, while
understanding the deep value that is held in having a clean and safe city. That the oil and gas companies are those who have the funds to clean up their mess, not the communities the pollution has been pushed upon.

Thank you for your time and thoughtfulness.
