Thank you so immensely much for continuing to proclaim June as Pride Month in Camarillo (and I'm guessing also raising the Pride flag outside City Hall)!
Especially as an openly LGBTQIA+ Camarillan myself &
ESPECIALLY in light of our federal government being blatantly anti-LGBTQIA+ rights and anti-LGBTQIA+ acceptance, it's huge and honestly sort of brings me to tears in a good way to see my own city continue to stand with me and other LGBTQIA+
Camarillans despite that no longer being the "in" thing to do federally or within more conservative | Republican circles such as those I know for sure a majority of you are in going off how 1 you've voted on various proposals and said about them and various other locally-relevant topics even in just the past 14 months or so.
And it's definitely even huger and more bringing me to tears in a good way to see my city continue openly standing with its LGBTQIA+ residents in the face of all this when even just 5-7 short years ago my hometown being openly supportive of
LGBTQIA+ people like me to this extent was honestly beyond my wildest dreams.
So, again, thank you so immensely much from the bottom of my heart for continuing to at least figurately raise the Pride flag every June!
You have no idea how much that means to me.
That all being said, I am concerned about the gap between how much the City of Camarillo SAYS it supports LGBTQIA+ people here and how much it ACTUALLY supports LGBTQIA+ people
here, most explicitly in the realm of its response to ICE especially due to the fact that back when ICE was deployed to assist TSA in our airports during the DHS shutdown earlier this year, ICE did outright say it'd go after transgender people, as well as implicably intersex people, who by the way are literally more numerous than natural redheads and could be as many as 10-15% of all people (many intersex people are never diagnosed or even suspected to be so, not even by themselves, especially many intersex people who have something like milder PMOS | formerly PCOS or are only genetically intersex) and even unintentionally gender-nonconforming cisgender people due to how often both intersex and even unintnetnioally gender- nonforming cisgender people are incorrectly assumed to be transgender, for "misrepresenting themselves" on their
identification.
Definitely makes this City's both allowing VCSO to keep protecting ICE vehicles and harassing people who are literally just doing their constitutional duty of observing and recording ICE and also going out of its way to spend our taxpayer funds on a whopping 25 to my knowledge still-fully in commission Flock ALPR cameras that everyone knows for sure are
absolutely sharing their images in a national database
accessibly by both law enforcement nationwide and ICE even worse, doesn't it?
Happy Pride...you still have time to correct course and make the right decisions for both your people and yourselves.
