Camarillo City Council
AGENDA REPORT
Date: July 8, 2026
To: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers
From: Greg Ramirez, City Manager
Submitted by: Mitchell Cameron, Director of Administrative Services/Chief Innovation Officer
Subject: Authorize Pricing Amendment No. 2024-141B with Automox Inc.
BACKGROUND
On June 21, 2024, the City entered into a one-year agreement with Automox in the amount of $8,400, plus contingency for a total amount of $9,400 for cloud-based patch management subscription services. Three quotes were requested from Automox, NinjaOne, and ManageEngine; Automox was chosen because it provides single sign-on (SSO), automation, and policy capabilities.
On June 2025, the City Manager signed an additional one-year Pricing Agreement No. 2024-141A with Automox in the amount of $11,340, for a total agreement amount of $20,740.
Staff recommends approval of Pricing Amendment No. 2024-141B to continue these services for an additional three-year term ending on June 20, 2029, and to provide a contingency for potential license growth.
DISCUSSION
Automox is an essential tool used by the City to help ensure all computers, servers, and other endpoint devices remain secure, supported, and up to date. The platform provides centralized, cloud-based patch management that allows staff to remotely deploy operating system and third-party software updates across City devices.
Timely patch management is a foundational cybersecurity practice. Many cyber incidents occur when known software vulnerabilities remain unpatched. By automating the deployment of security updates, the City can reduce exposure to avoidable security risks, improve reliability of technology systems, and support continuity of operations for staff and public-facing services.

Automox also improves operational efficiency by reducing the need for manual, device- by-device updates and by allowing Information Services staff to manage patching through standardized policies and automated workflows. This approach helps the City maintain consistent security practices across departments, respond more quickly to newly identified vulnerabilities, and scale support as technology needs evolve.
Continued use of Automox supports the City’s broader technology and risk management objectives by strengthening endpoint security, improving administrative efficiency, and supporting responsible stewardship of City information assets.
Staff recommends City Council approve Pricing Amendment No. 2024-141B in the amount of $33,696 ($11,232 annually), including a contingency of $3,369.60 (10%) for potential expansion of licenses, for a total amendment amount of $37,065.60 and a revised agreement not-to-exceed amount of $57,805.60.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funds for Automox are included in the FY 2026/27 Information Systems Administration Budget Account No. 530-5330-453.32-01. Future year costs will be included in the respective fiscal year’s annual budget.
CITY COUNCIL STRATEGIC PLAN FY 2025/26
This recommendation supports the City Council’s Strategic Plan Goal and Objective 5.2 – Technology and City Facilities – Expand and upgrade technology infrastructure to improve network connectivity, digital services, and operational efficiency.
CEQA DETERMINATIONS
City staff has determined, in accordance with Section 15061(b)(3) of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines, that Automox licenses are not subject to CEQA review because it can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility that software licenses may have a significant effect on the environment.
RECOMMENDATION
1. Find that Automox software is exempt from review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Section 15301 of the CEQA Guidelines; and
2. Authorize the City Manager to execute Second Amendment No. 2024-141B with Automox, in the amount of $33,696 plus contingency of $3,369.60 for a total not to exceed amount of $57,805.60; and
