Subject: Local Appointment Recommendations for Volunteer Advisory Boards
BACKGROUND
Volunteer Advisory Boards are an integral part of local government that offer a way to engage residents in the democratic process, enhance community involvement, and help bring the city and community together by providing a resident’s perspective.
The City posted the appropriate volunteer recruitment notice for unscheduled vacancies for various City committees. Formal appointments need to be made by the City Council for positions on the Camarillo Council on Aging and the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council.
DISCUSSION
Applications for the unscheduled vacancies were reviewed on June 29, 2026, by the Local Appointment Committee and their recommendations to fill the vacancies on the following committees are being presented to the City Council for formal appointment:
Camarillo Council on Aging – 2 Unscheduled Vacancies
• New appointment of Don Becker for a term expiring June 2027. • New appointment Robert Schweers for a term expiring June 2027.
Ventura County Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council – 1 Unscheduled Vacancy • New Appointment of William Neckameyer for a two-year term expiring June 2028.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no budget impact as a result of this action.
