Comments Mayor Tennessen, Vice Mayor Dr. Martinez-Bravo, Councilmember Santengelo, Councilmember Trembley,
Councilmember Kildee,
Hello, I am Spencer Richey. I am your constiutent and have been a Camarillan since I was born in what was then St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital.

In that capacity I once again bring up multiple concerns I have about our city's continuing use of its taxpayer dollars to rent invasive ALPR cameras and otherwise help ICE destroy our community and our local economy:
1) Recently I was, as I very often am, walking along near the intersection of Mission Oaks and Woodcreek when I noticed that now that intersection is outfitted with a Flock ALPR 1 camera.

Mayor Tennesen, that intersection isn't anywhere near
Camarillo's theft corridor around the Outlets and the Target- Home Depot plaza.

Isn't most of the repeated stated reason we have (Flock) ALPR cameras in the first place to prevent the retail theft the Outlets, Target, and Home Depot attract to our city?
Why's there a Flock ALPR camera right smack in the middle of sleepy Mission Oaks on the opposite side of town, then? Are you trying to bring more ICE activity into Mission Oaks as well as the rest of town?
2) I haven't seen specificially Flock ALPR cameras around our theft corridor, by the way.

Really not helping your case that you mostly want ALPR
cameras spying on us to prevent retail theft here.
3) Flock's main competitor in the ALPR camera world, Axon, is also guilty of flagrant and dangerous privacy abuses AND its leadership have actively donated to Trump, so no, you cannot somehow make it remotely safe or OK for our city to be riddled with ALPR cameras even if they aren't specifically Flock ones. 3) The Glass House raids now have their own Wikipedia article.

Its current title? "2025 Camarillo ICE raid".

Not even any mention of the company whose farms bear both Camarillo and Carpinteria addresses, heck "raid" isn't even plural in the Wikipedia article about them and the Carpinteria Glass House raid isn't even mentioned in the article's opening summary.

It's literally just Camarillo that is and will probably be forever attached to those raids in the minds of the whole world outside of our region.

So, again, try all you might to try to pass off especially our city's personal responsibility, YOUR personal responsibility since you are its elected leaders, to respond to the continuing fallout of both the Glass House raids and the surrounding flagrant ICE abuse of both our community and our local enconomy by
repeating that the Camarillo Glass House farm isn't within Camarillo's official city limits and thus has never been specifically Camarillo's problem, you will never succeed in that goal and until you right our city's ship away from bending over for ICE in every way you can technically do while not drawing the ire of Sacramento for breaking Camarillo state law. 3) Speaking of ICE continuing to flagrantly abuse our
2 community, recently AP News and other reliable news outlets have reported that now ICE is getting shock gloves that, as their name would suggest, literally shock people to subdue them via inflicting apparently equivalent pain to a bee sting.

ICE's favored method of dealing with its targets and whoever's too bold in opposing them to their faces is manhandling people.

These shock gloves are also known to be dangerous to many people.

Camarillo and especially Mission Oaks, where that new Flock ALPR camera is, are home to a LOT of older people living there.

Are you ok with ICE shocking people?
Stop letting ICE let do whatever they want here.
