Mayor Tennessen, Vice Mayor Dr. Martinez-Bravo,
Councilmember Trembley, Councilmember Santangelo,
Councilmember Kildee,
I'm Spencer Richey and as a lifelong Camarillan (I was born in what was then St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital and have literally never lived anywhere since) I am your constituent.

In that capacity I am yet again telling you to please, for the love of this town, get all our town's ALPR cameras out of
commission for good.

At this point I don't even care how much more of our taxpayer money it costs for you to get us out of our Flock contract, what matters is that we're no longer being spied on by any entities

1 (that we know for sure are willing to hand over their data to the (federal) government) even when completely out of range of any technology we have the ability to choose to be spied on by using like our own phones, computers, TVs, cars, and smart appliances.

And, while Flock's been the focus point due to it being them who are currently dominant in the ALPR camera market, they are NOT the whole problem with either the ALPR camera market or with ALPR cameras themselves.

For one thing, both of Flock's two biggest competitors in the ALPR camera market, Axon and Verkada, are scary in their own right.

Axon is a heavy Trump donor, already has the infrastructure in place to connect their ALPR cameras' data with the and buddy- buddy with the exact same company, Compliant Technologies, that is selling ICE their shock gloves that are known to be dangerous to many people.

Verkada, meanwhile, literally pretty much allowed its own employees to use footage the company's cameras got within its own offices to in their own private Slack channel make sexually and otherwise incredibly offensive and demeaning comments about their female colleagues by allowing these offending employees to stay at the company with just a reduction in their stock shares.

ALPR cameras themselves are inherently a problem because, as pointed out earlier in this written public comment, they expand mass surviellance out into our streets to the point it's literally impossible to escape its net like we can escape the net of mass surveillance being done by our personal technology by refusing to use it.

Literally the only way for any of us, yes even you, to stay safe in a mass surveillance state is for there to not be a mass surveillance state at all.

And we know for sure both Flock and Axon are (probably in Axon's case) more than happy to freely help ICE by giving them access to their ALPR cameras' data, even when their customers have explcitly signed a contract stating that their ALPR cameras' data will not be shared with anyone besides law enforcement agencies in their own state.

We also know for sure that ICE has literally used data from Ventura County's tax-funded ALPR cameras to improve and streamline their targeting of our local immigrant community.

Groups that are more commonly despised by the wider general population such as undocumented immigrants, citizens on public assistance or stereotyped as being on public assistence, so-called "communist | antifa | leftist | dangerous terrorists", and 2 people openly favor of trans | other LGBTQIA+ rights including openly transgender | otherwise LGBTQIA+ people themselves were the Third Reich's initial targets because they knew less people with enough power to stop them would raise a fuss about it before they'd practiced and built their mass-murdering regime enough to go after other groups like Jews,
(insitutionalized) disabled people, people who openly opposed what their regime was doing even if they weren't outright leftwing, Roma, Slavs, Jehovah's Witnesses, and their allies.

By keeping these ALPR cameras on and otherwise helping ICE via VCSO's protecting ICE vehicles, picking up ICE targets directly from our jails, and hassling people just for trying to record ICE in the wild you are buying RIGHT into what made the Third Reich able to do what it did.

P.S. It's BS that these are purely to prevent theft in our theft corridor like you keep insisting, as
1) The recent Target theft solving was from Target's own PRIVATELY-FUNDED Flock ALPR cameras and NOT our tax-
funded ALPR ones,
2) I don't really see any Flock ALPRs up in our retail theft corridor and
3) There's literally a Flock camera at the intersection of Mission Oaks and Wood Creek, which really couldn't be further from our theft corridor in either location or appeal to theives if it tried.

Thank you for putting our Flock ALPR cameras back on your agenda, that's a good start.

Now you need to stop glazing them, stop telling us we're stupid or somehow not anti-crime enough to see the value in them, and GET THEM ALL OUT OF OUR TOWN WITHOUT SIMPLY

REPLACING THEM WITH ANOTHER COMPANY'S ALPR
CAMERAS.

You have an opportunity to stand up to the horrors inflicted on our own community such as the Glass House raids which by the way are forever going to be linked with Camarillo, even more so than the Glass House company owning those farms.

I would take this quite basic opportunity to do so.

Your own citizenry blatantly despises these cameras and what they've been able to be used for against our own community.

Do what's right and follow your constituents will for once.

Highly Concerned Lifelong Camarillan
