AGENDA REPORT
Date: September 23, 2026
To: Honorable President and Trustees
From: Greg Ramirez, City Manager
Submitted by: Lisa Givan, Interim Library Director
Subject: Library Activity Updates – Receive and File

BACKGROUND
Staff provides the Library Board of Trustees monthly updates on activities at the Camarillo Public Library.

DISCUSSION
A Library & RFBC Activity Report for August is included as Attachment 1, featuring Library Highlights, Professional Development, Literacy/ESL and updates on the Russell Fischer Business Collection (RFBC).

In partnership with the California State Library, the Library has initiated the Student Success Card pilot program at Rancho Campana High School providing each high school student with a starter library card. This enables every student to access library resources with their school I.D. By partnering to put library cards in the hands of students who need them, the Library is working to improve learning outcomes for students.

Following this pilot program, future plans include expanding the program to more schools in the community.

From September 15 through October 15, the Library celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month.

On Saturday September 26 from 1p.m.-2 p.m., the Library will present an afternoon showcasing the art of flamenco provided by Flamenco 805. Originating in the Andalusia region of Spain, Flamenco dancing blends song, dance, and guitar. Additional programming for Hispanic Heritage month will be featured at the Library, including our traditional community ofrenda, a Loteria night, bilingual story time, and crafts for kids, teens and tweens.

Blending business with pleasure, the Library is hosting our very first “Crow Party” on October 4 from 1p.m.- 2:30 p.m. A crow party is a social gathering where guests can

Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to make crafts, select a tarot card, view a Crow Vs. Raven Campaign and vote for the winner. This event is well-suited for all ages.

Additional activities and programs planned for October are listed in the October Camarillo Library Newsletter, included herein as Attachment 2.
