The examples presented are just a few that the Sub- Committee may want to consider and discuss. O ther public agencies also have different reserves that the City may wish to pursue.
Should General Fund Reserves be a topic that the Sub- Committee would like to place on t he March 1 Council Agenda, staff will more fully research other reserves that may be beneficial to the City and its specific needs. However, whether reserves are maintained as is, cons olidated, eliminated, modified, or created, the City will need to ensure that there are adequate funding mechanisms to sustain s pecified reserve levels or systematically work towards funding tar gets long-term. And to do so may require new or modified City re venue sources or diversion of budgeted operating and capital appropriations.
