After evaluating potential sites, City staff and Paired Power identified a location in the City-owned municipal parking lot off of Orchard City Drive and S. First Street as an ideal location for the installation of the EV charging station (attachment B). The proposed setup will utilize approximately three existing parking stalls, with a solar canopy spanning the width of all three. Although the battery and charging components will be housed in the center stall, they can be easily accessed from the adjacent stalls located on either side (attachment C). Prior to Paired Power’s installation, City staff will complete minor restriping in the proposed parking lot to accommodate the charging station, ensuring that at least one stall meets ADA compliance standards.

NEXT STEPS
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt a resolution to accept a donation from Paired Power for the use, installation, and maintenance of a portable solar -powered electric vehicle (EV) charging station in a City -owned municipal parking lot. Upon City Council’s acceptance, staff will collaborate with Paired Power to finalize a lease agreement for the station’s installation. The proposed agreement will have an initial term of five years, with the option to extend those terms based on the City’s service needs at that time.

FISCAL IMPACT
The acceptance of Paired Power’s donation to supply, install, and maintain an EV charging station will have no fiscal impacts to the City. However, the City will incur minor expenses for restriping a portion of the parking lot, which is estimated to cost approximately $300 to $500.

ALTERNATIVES

1. Do not accept the donation of an EV charging station from Paired Power.

2. Provide alternative direction to staff.
