1. Roll Call
The meeting was called to order at 4:00 PM. In attendance: Council Members Clarke, Westman, Vice Mayor Jensen, and Mayor Morgan. Absent: Council Member Orbach.
2. Additional Materials
A. Item 3A – Two emails received after publication of the agenda packet.
B. Item 4 – One piece of correspondence received after publication of the agenda packet.
3. General Government
A. Chapter 8.40: Capitola Municipal Code
Recommended Action: 1) Adopt an urgency ordinance amending Chapter 8.40 of the Capitola Municipal Code to remove the expiration language in Section 8.40.150(G), so the City’s safe drug and sharps disposal requirements remain in effect; and 2) introduce for first reading, waiving further reading, an ordinance amending Chapter 8.40 of the Capitola Municipal Code to remove the expiration language in Section 8.40.150(G).
Public Works Director Kahn presented the staff report. Staff invited Darcy Pruitt, staff member from Santa Cruz County, to speak about the item.
Public Comment: None
The Council provided positive feedback on the City’s existing safe disposal program for medications and sharps containers.
Motion to adopt Urgency Ordinance No. 1077 and introduce Ordinance No. 1078: Council Member Westman
Second: Council Member Clarke
Voting Yea: Council Members Clarke, Westman, Vice Mayor Jensen, Mayor Morgan
