Recommended Action
Adopt a resolution approving the 2027 Regular City Council Meeting Calendar.
Executive Summary/Discussion
Staff are asking the City Council to approve the 2027 schedule for regular City Council meetings.
The City Council establishes its regular meeting schedule annually by resolution. Adopting the calendar by resolution meets the requirements of the state’s open meeting law, the Ralph M.
Brown Act (California Government Code Section 54954(a)), and provides the City Council with the opportunity to increase notification to the public of its scheduled regular meetings.
Special meetings can still be called as needed by providing 24-hour notice before the time of the special meeting.
Regular City Council meetings have been scheduled to take place at 5 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall at 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive.
Fiscal Analysis
There are no significant fiscal impacts that would result from adoption of the attached resolution.
Next Steps
Staff will distribute the approved calendar to the City Council, staff and local newspapers. In addition, the calendar will be posted on the city’s website.
Environmental Evaluation
The proposed action to approve the 2027 Regular City Council Meeting Calendar is exempt from environmental review under California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines Sections 15061(b)(3) and 15378(b)(5) as it can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility the proposed action may have a significant effect on the environment.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE 2027 REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
CALENDAR
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it will establish its scheduled regular meetings annually by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Ralph M. Brown Act, or the Brown Act, specifically California Government Code Section 54954(a), provides for the establishment of an annual regular meeting calendar procedure; and WHEREAS, all regular meetings will be scheduled to take place at 5 p.m. in the Council Chamber located at 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive; and
WHEREAS, special meetings of the City Council will be called as necessary following the requirements of the Brown Act, specifically California Government Code Section 54956.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct.
2.That the proposed action to approve the 2027 Regular City Council Meeting Calendar is exempt from environmental review under California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines Sections 15061(b)(3) and 15378(b)(5) as it can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility the proposed action may have a significant effect on the environment.
3. That the 2027 Regular City Council Meeting Calendar establishing the dates and locations for regular City Council meetings (Attachment A) is approved.
4. That the 2027 Regular City Council Meeting Calendar will be posted to the city’s website.
5. That all regular meetings will be scheduled to take place at 5 p.m. in the Council Chamber located at 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive.
