This is an addendum to the items listed in the annual report submitted to the Council.
Current action items to be addressed in 2022
CENTURY PARK
BASEBALL FIELD BACKSTOP
Large gap between backstop fence and exterior fence. Errant throws can easily land in that opening and go onto DaVall Road.
RECOMMENDED: Boundary fence along DaVall should be extended to cover opening.
Or
Backstop could be replaced with a new one that could be centered appropriately unlike the current location. Replacing would be the desired option.
PUBLIC BATHROOMS
The bathrooms are in dire need of attention especially at Panorama and Century. A deep cleaning and replacement of some fixtures along with doors added are needed.
RECOMMENDED: This was on last year’s list and has been included within the budgeted items. Our opinion is that it should have a higher priority.
PICKLEBALL COURT
With the popularity of the sport, and to offer something new to our residents, Pickleball Courts are a needed amenity.
RECOMMENDED: A study will be completed by our commission to find the best location in their opinion for a tennis court to be converted or a possible location for a new court.
STREET HOCKEY
As with Pickleball, Street Hockey is said to be the upcoming youth sport that will be popular in our area. With the addition of the new minor league team that will be playing at the new arena and our loss of the ice rink, street hockey will likely catch on fast. The commission, along with the help of staff, would like to find an appropriate location to hold exhibitions and hopefully competitions in the future.
OCOTILLO PARK SNACK BAR
The seldom used snack bar was successfully used at the Funorama event recently.
RECOMMENDED
The commission will investigate possible uses in the future. With our exploration of athletic usage, small events and public use, e.g. family reunions; it could have many possible future uses.
BALLFIELDS
All fields need some attention to keep them up to good condition, to encourage more usage. The recent upgrade at the Panorama ballfields has been a big improvement. Besides the grading of the infield and installation of the home plate and assortment of pitching mounds, the field is looking great.
SHADING
Installation of shades for Panorama dugouts and or stands would be an improvement that would be used for organized programs.
DENNIS KEATS
There are no permanent markings or goals for the fields. This should be considered
