Re: CDBG Funding 2021-22
Dear Mr. Mayor,
The City of Cathedral City has been a longtime supporter of the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission's vision to end homelessness here in the Coachella Valley. The Mission is grateful for the City's support over the years, and looks forward to our ongoing partnership.

In 2020, Cathedral City partnered with CVRM to fund two shower trailers through the CV funding. CVRM kept one of the shower units adjacent to our emergency shelter to serve homeless individuals and families not staying in our emergency shelter, to help mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus. CVRM can now continue to meet facility capacity and level of services while maintaining social distancing requirements to prevent the spread of the COVID-

19. Our emergency shelter currently has 25 beds for women and 50 beds for men. CVRM serves the public with this shower allowing us to provide services and keep our congregate setting safe from the COVID-19 virus. CVRM has purchased and maintained the necessary cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing supplies to deliver and provide services safely and healthily. Plans to make this unit mobile will be implemented post pandemic.

The second shower trailer is mobile and has allowed CVRM's Outreach Team to expand services throughout the Coachella Valley. CVRM's Outreach Team travels each week to these cities:

Coachella/Mecca/Thermal; Cathedral City, Indio/La Quinta/Bermuda Dunes; Palm Springs; Blythe; Desert Hot Springs; Banning/Beaumont; and Cathedral City. During Outreach visits, 760 347 3512 office \ 760 347 8073 fax \ [email protected] \ www.cvrm.org 47-470 Van Buren - P.O. Box 10660 \ Indio, CA 92202-2564 CVRM provides the essential personal hygiene items and towels for homeless individuals and families to utilize the shower facilities with our mobile outreach trailer. This outreach program also provides water, small non-perishable meals, clothes, shoes, socks, umbrellas, sunscreen, and sunglasses. Clients have the opportunity to be looked at by a nurse or doctor through DAP testing and non-emergency medical services. CVRM hosts a group of professionals in law enforcement and SACH healthcare workers along with CVRM's staff and vans. Outreach will continue year round to provide consistency to the Valley's homeless population.

The Cathedral City 2021-22 grant funding will support CVRM's Outreach Team for 12 months.

During the 2021-22 year, CVRM's outreach team will make over 264 trips to the valley and assist 394 homeless individuals in Cathedral City. 2020 Riverside County Point in Time Count shows 627 unsheltered individuals living in District 4.

CVRM is requesting $103,000. 00. This funding will support CVRM's Outreach Team's projection to serve more than 394 homeless individuals in the City of Cathedral City in 2021-2022 and throughout the Valley. Partnering with other health care providers during outreach will mitigate and manage the coronavirus spread among people experiencing homelessness in unsheltered locations. The handwashing stations and shower trailer for the unsheltered will further help stop the spread of the coronavirus. CVRM's staff will provide PPE to the homeless will transport them to shelters or another emergency if necessary.

The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission is always here to help.

We look forward to continuing our long-standing partnership with the City of Cathedral City to help your city's homeless.

Sincerely,
Dala Dukets
