The Transgender Health & Wellness Center (TH&WC) was founded by Transgender Community Coalition in 2018 with only $10,000.00 in Cathedral City. It now has four locations in Southern California with close to a 1-million-dollar budget in 2022. In four years, it has become the largest employer of Transgender, Gender Non-Conforming and Intersex (TGI) people in Southern California. It has over 3,000 clients/patients and performed an addition 1,100 enrollments in 2021 for social services and healthcare. By the equations used by the Williams Institute Cathedral City has hundreds of TGI residents. TH&WC region that it serves is up to Upland to Barstow, Down to El Center and Imperial Valley, and to San Diego. This includes Cathedral City residents.
Although TH&WC focuses on the TGI community and LGBTQ+ youth it is open to anyone that needs assistance. As TH&WC grows it is a member of the Riverside County Continuum of Care (CoC), our CEO sits on a LGBTQ health equity committee for the White House and much more. These committees and more allow TH&WC to bring life changing resources to Cathedral City residents. As an example:
TH&WC and the Riverside CoC, TH&WC currently is offering housing vouchers for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and homeless. These vouchers all both first month and deposit, and a monthly payment for housing for one year if they agree to be in the case management program to help them be a success. Statistics show that just giving someone housing along is insufficient to success. It takes management and navigation to help the person get on their feet and stabilize over the course of a year.
TH&WC would like to work with the Cathedral City Police Department, so they have this information to help those in Cathedral City that they serve and protect while addressing incidents of violence or patrolling for homeless camps.
In addition, to address at risk human trafficking in Cathedral City with at risk youth i (LGBTQ+ Youth have the highest risk of sexual abuse in family settings)ii TH&WC would like to start its LGBTQ+ youth internship with Cathedral City LGBTQ+ youth. They would come to the office, learn office skills, to give them a competitive edge with future employment, and reduce potential underground economic activity like survival sex work.
With the above it requires complex navigation due to systemic barriers to provide effective case management for victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and the LGBTQ+ community.
Part of the housing assistance program and general Cathedral City population TH&WC provides ‘free’ mental health treatment and life coaching to help guide individuals to success. This program

would reduce government costs for social services, suicidal ideation and attempts, and navigation of systemic inequity.
We thank you for the opportunity to apply for $20,000.00 to provide these services to the Cathedral City Community.
