BACKGROUND:
The California Chapter of the International Conference of Building Officials (CALBO) mission is to promote public health and safety in building construction through legislation, education, and building code development.
CALBO is a non-profit and hosting their 60th Annual Business Meeting at The Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort and Spa on May 8 – 12, 2022.
DISCUSSION:
CALBO would like to hold a private Dinner Party at the new Cathedral City Community Amphitheater on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, from 7 pm to 9:30 pm. They expect about 175 attendees who will select meals from food trucks and listen to a pop cover band throughout their celebration. Alcohol will be served, and the group will hire private security. They will contract directly with all food trucks and party equipment and services. Set-up will begin at 2 pm and teardown completed that evening by 11:30 pm.
The rental tables will be picked up the next day by 12:00 pm. The City will not be responsible for any theft or damage to equipment left overnight.
The City has a sound policy for the amphitheater that all music must end at 9 pm. The organization is requesting, due to daylight savings time and a late start at 7 pm, if they could continue the music to play until 9:30 pm and/or have the decibels reduced at 9 pm to 75 decibels at the south perimeter of the property line.
FISCAL IMPACT:
CALBO has agreed to the non-profit amphitheater rental rate of $2,500 for the event date and $1,250 for move-out day. They also agreed to the Special Use Permit application fee of $510. The number of guests at the dinner allows for them to simply use the permanent restrooms and they will have a bathroom attendant to make sure there are enough supplies, and the restrooms remain clean. They will provide all general liability insurance requirements covering the city.
