BACKGROUND:

On February 9th, Chief Muhr provided a comprehensive overview of the proposed Fire Department Strategic Plan to carry the department through 2025. After the presentation, Chief Muhr revised the plan incorporating changes which include more specific fiscal information.

DISCUSSION:

It is the City of Cathedral City’s desire that the fire department maintain an up-to-date strategic plan and to continually look ahead to ensure we are preparing for challenges that are sometimes foreseeable. In this planning process, the fire department developed a strategic plan that was presented to City Council on February 9th. As part of the recommended changes, fiscal impacts were identified and listed by initiative.

Additionally, this version of the Strategic Plan was utilized in the development of the City’s five-year plan as it relates to the Fire Department.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Fiscal impacts are specifically itemized in the plan for each goal. Some impacts are estimated in hours dedicated by staff members, while other impacts are broken down by estimated cost in dollars.
