I would like to strongly support the plan to install street toppers for the following artists as noted.
Bill Anson (one topper on San Jacinto & Van Fleet -- he lived in the house next to the east wash) Joe Novak (two toppers on Bel Air & Grandview and Bel Air & Knoll View) Tim Townsley (two toppers on San Jacinto & Cathedral Canyon and San Jacinto & Glenn)
This plan was proposed and voted on by the Public Arts Commission over 4 years ago when I was on council and the council supported this artist’s designation for appropriate locations in the city. This helps define the city for its artistic roots dating back to the 1920’s and 30’s when many occupants of the city were artists and continuing today. This is also consistent with the plans to better define neighborhoods in the future with street toppers and is consistent with previous actions that installed street toppers for Agnes Pelton and Val Samuelson. I hope the council will continue this important program by approving these new street topper requests.
