Title: Update on Council Goals for 2022

RECOMMENDATION:
This item is presented for information, discussion and direction only.
BACKGROUND:
Council met in a strategic planning retreat on January 22, 2022 and developed goals for the year, which were subsequently adopted through a resolution on February 16, 2022.
Department heads have incorporated achievement of the goals int o their work plans for the year. Some outstanding goals from previous years have been carried over to 20 22 as well.
DISCUSSION:
The City Manager will present an update to Council regarding achievements to date related to the adopted City Council goals.
The COVID -19 pandemic and the resulting recruitment and retention challenges affected the City’s ability to achieve the 202 1 goals and continues to have some effect on the 2022 goals as HR and departmental staff work to fill the positions restored in the budget, which are necessary to achieve some of the goals. Nonetheless progress has been made on many of the Council goals and others are scheduled to be addressed later this year.
Council will be presented with the update on the goals and have the opportu nity to discuss necessary changes to the goals or the timeframes necessary to achieve the goals.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Costs related to the goals during FY20 21-22 were absorbed in departmental operating budgets or a budget adjustment was authorized. Items necess ary to meet the goals in FY22-23 were included in approved budget amendments or will need to be absorbed in departmental budgets or addressed through additional budget adjustment s as the situation warrants.
