Public Arts Commission
City of Cathedral City CA
Thank you for the opportunity to apply for the Public Arts Commission. I formally served on the commission from June 2019 until June 2022. I served as vice chair for the commission for 2020.
I believe that I still have much to give the commission. I believe the commission is a best served when we worked together as one force and witnessed the fruits of that cohesion during much of my tenure. I would like to see that unity back again and believe my past experience's will help towards that goal.
While on the commission, I along with the other commissioners, completed nearly a dozen projects bettering the look and feel of the city. These included the library park bench project, the book return mural, the Patriot Park mural, the anniversary utility box project, the Memorial Park bench project, the two new sculptures in Panorama Park, and the three kinetic sculptures at the entrance to the new amphitheater along with others. We also worked in alliance with several of the cities non profits to promote Art in the community.
My background includes a Master of Fine Arts from San Diego State University. I also owned and operated my own business in Cathedral City for fifteen years employing 32 residents.
Please feel free to contact me at any time.
Regards......
Tom Rudolph

Re: Public Art Commission
Dear Councilmember Ross,
It is my pleasure to express interest in serving Cathedral City as a member of the Public Arts Commission.
Several weeks after my husband and I moved to Cathedral City in April of 2022, we attended the State of the City event at the Doubletree Hotel, to learn about how we might get involved with our community.
I was delighted to learn about the many projects and organizations in the city and have kept an eye out for a commission where my talents might contribute.
I am attaching a resume so you can see how the Public Arts area would be a dream come true for me. I have spent a lifetime as a professional artist and educator and over the past twenty years have served on several boards and commissions in Long Beach, CA- maybe most notably as a member of the Long Beach Arts Council.
I also founded two Educational Arts Nonprofits and am a visual artist myself (painter).
I love the desert and Cathedral City!. The visual beauty has inspired artists to move here for many years, and I am no exception. I also spent many years as a professional actor in NYC, CA, regional and international theatre/ film and tv, and am excited about the theatres and theatre artists that are part of this community.
CV Rep is entering a new season of leadership, and I would love to support that.
I have discovered that both Palm Springs and Palm Desert have very active and well developed visual arts communities and galleries and I would love to learn more about the aspirations and gifts of Cathedral City in this area.
I also have a particular passion for incorporation of the Arts in Education at all stages of the life continuum as well, and I would love to make new friends through serving.
I look forward to meeting you!
Sincerely,
Jane Galloway
