Title: SUP 22-008 Run for Refugees

RECOMMENDATION:
To approve Special Use Permit 22-008 for the Northgate Community Church’s Run for Refugees 5K.
BACKGROUND:
This proposed 5K Run and Walk is being organized to raise money for the millions of refugees displaced in Ukraine. Northgate Church has a partnering arm helping those refugees and all money raised will go to them.
DISCUSSION:
The 5K Run and Walk will setup at 5 a.m. on Feb. 25, 2023, at Northgate Community Church 30010 Date Palm Drive, Cathedral City, CA 92234. The 5K run starts at 7:30 a.m. and will wrap up by 9 a.m. 500 attendees are projected for this e vent. They will have an ambulance on site in case of medical emergencies before, during or after the run. Event organizers will also have trash and recycling bins on site for cleanup as well as 5-6 portable toilets for attendees and volunteers. The event d oesn’t need any road closures and will use the bike lane on 30th using cones. Northgate Church gets insurance through USATF and will have a liability policy also naming Cathedral City.
