Title: Accept Resignation of Chip Yarborough from the Parks and Community Events Commission

RECOMMENDATION:
To accept the resignation of Chip Yarborough from the Parks and Community Events Commission effective immediately and direct staff to proceed with filling the vacant seat.
BACKGROUND:
Chip Yarborough was appointed to serve on the P arks and Community Events Commission on October 23, 2019, and reappointed on June 16, 2021, for a full -term expiring on June 30, 2024.
DISCUSSION:
On December 21, 2022 , staff received an email from Chip Yarborough submitting his resignation from the Parks and Community Events Commission effective immediately.
With the resignation of M r. Yarborough, the Parks and Community Events Commission will have two vacancies. The term for this vacant seat will continue to June 30, 2024.
Staff recommends the City Council direct staff to do the following:
• Pursuant to Government Code 54974, post a Notice of Vacancy. No appointment can be made sooner than 10 days after the Notice of Vacancy has been posted.
• Post vacancy on social media and City website and publish in the Desert Sun.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact with this item.
