Cathedral City Residential Corner Ramps Repair Relief Program Overview The purpose of this Program is to assist Cathedral City property owners to resolve code compliance violations related to non-compliant corner curb ramps fronting their property. The Program is exclusive for property owners with primary residence in Cathedral City, and it is limited to one-family dwellings and two-family dwellings (duplexes) locat ed in Residential Districts within the City limits, and it is intended to relief Cathedral City property owners from the cost for repairs and/or replacement of the ADA curb ramps fronting their property.
The Program is not intended to relief the homeowner/resident from the maintenance of the area between the property line and the street line as prescribed in the Cathedral City Municipal Code Section 14.12.010 Duty to Maintain.
Per Cathedral City Municipal Code Section 14.12.010 “Duty to maintain”, “Pursuant to California S treets and Highways Code Section 5610, the owner or owners of lots or portions of lots fronting on any portion of a public street which ha s been improved by the installa tion of a sidewalk shall maintain the sidewalk, including any parkway area between the sidewalk a nd the street line…” Cathedral City’s Corner Ramps Repair Program is funded by the City for the repair and/or reconstruction of corner ramps to a condition which will not endanger any person or property or interfere with the public convenience in the use of t he sidewalk.
