Item No. 3.B

Meeting Date: February 8, 2023
From: Ryan Hunt, Communications and Events Manager
Title: Discover Cathedral City & Public Arts Website Redesign

City Council

RECOMMENDATION:

This item is presented for information, discussion, and direction only.

BACKGROUND:

The City’s Discover Cathedral City website, https://www.discovercathedralcity.com/, a key resource for residents and visitors when receiving loca l news, event updates and CCTV video content, has received a redesign for the first time since 2014. The site’s new design is much more modern, mobile -friendly, events and news are more prominently featured and the compatibility with the City’s social medi a accounts has never been more integrated.

In addition to redesigning a more user -friendly Discover Cathedral City website, Communication/Events, along with assistance from Economic Development, created a new Public Arts/Where Art Lives website at https://www.cathedralcitypublicarts.org/.

This task was presented as a recommendation from the Public Arts Commission. After receiving feedback and meeting with local artists, Communications/Events worked on a redesigned site with information that will be regularly updated and maintained with assistance from the Public Arts Commission. This will replace the Where Art Lives app and functions very similarly to one if using a mobile device on the site.

DISCUSSION:

Communications & Events Manager Ryan Hunt will provide an overview of the updated websites/key features for City Council review and to increase community awareness.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This item is presented for information, discussion, and direction only. There’s no fiscal impact as all updates were done in -house by the City’s webmaster under the supervision of the Communications & Events Manager.
