My name is Angel Herrera , I have been a resident of Cathedral City for 1 year and 6 months. I would like to apply and be considered to serve on the Public and Community Events Commission for Cathedral City. I believe my experience in the public sector working for the City of Riverside and the Coachella Valley Water District, has provided me with insight on how to track the progress of large projects and an understanding on project constraints .
As a young child I was taught the importance of giving back to your community . As early as 12 years old I used to volunteer my time with various community outreaches . I am thankful for the support my community gave me as I was growing up and I try to "pay it forward " as often as I can. I grew up in an era where the parks and play areas in my community were vital to my up bringing. As an adult and a parent, I value the parks that allowed my children to play sports such as basketball , kick ball, and soccer.
I have been working in the public sector for over seven years as an Electrical Maintenance Scheduler and an Electrical Supervisor . I understand the process for seeing projects through to fruition . Over the past seven years I have been the Project Manager for projects that exceed 2 million dollars and span over 12 months. I have experience with identifying a need and conceptualizing a solution . I have worked alongside design and engineering firms , contractor companies , and public utilities such as SEC and 11D. I have an understand of supply chain issues, zoning requirements , environmental impact reports, and operating within a budget.
