Kevin Biersack, Financial Services Director, presented the City Council with an overview of the status of the Gregory S. Pettis Fountain of Life, which included an evaluation of the surface deterioration, safety concerns and structure issues. He provided the Council with recommendations to consider for near-term plan for the fountain as well as long-term plans for alternative water features in city parks..
Council provided comments and asked clarifying questions, which were responded to by staff. After discussion, it was the consensus of the City Council to direct staff to engage a third-party consultant to create a conceptual design for the fountain's proposed use as a non interactive central art piece, to include fencing, surface and water flow/drain options.
