BACKGROUND:
The Parks and Community Events Commission currently has one vacant seat.
Pursuant to City Council Resolution 2022-47, this seat shall be nominated by Councilmember Ernesto Gutierrez. The term for this vacant seat expires on June 30, 2023.
DISCUSSION:
The vacancy on the Parks and Community Events Commission was posted as required by Government Code 54974 and the deadline to receive applications was the close of business on Monday, April 3, 2023.
Councilmember Ernesto Gutierrez met with the applicant, and it is his desire to nominate Mario Jimenez to fill the vacant seat. As indicated, the term of this seat is scheduled to expire on June 30, 2023, which will only provide the opportunity for Mr.
Jimenez to attend two meetings with the Commission. It is Councilmember Gutierrez’ recommendation Mr. Jimenez be appointed to serve a full three-year term expiring June 30, 2026. The application for Mr. Jimenez is attached for your review.
It is staff’s recommendation that, pursuant to City Council Resolution 2022-47, City Council ratify the nomination of Ernesto Gutierrez of Mario Jimenez to serve on the Parks and Community Events Commission and formally appoint him to fill the unexpired term continuing through June 30, 2026.
