Title: Update on Achievement of Strategic Plan Goals and Objectives RECOMMENDATION:

BACKGROUND:
The City Council, city staff and members of the public participated in a day long strategic planning session on Saturday January 27, 2024. During the strategic planning session, the Council reviewed progress made on the original five-year strategic plan developed and adopted in 2023 and developed some revisions and additions to the plan. The updated strategic plan was then formally adopted by the Council during the regular Council meeting on February 14, 2024.
DISCUSSION:
The five-year strategic plan serves as a significant and meaningful policy document which guides city staff and city commissions and committees throughout the year. City departments use the strategic plan to guide them as they develop individual departmental work plans for the year and as tasks and projects are assigned to city employees.
Six months have passed since the adoption of the current strategic plan. It is timely, therefore, to present Council with an update on the progress made on the goals and objectives of the plan. Staff will present information on selected goals and objectives during the meeting and a comprehensive document reviewing the status of all the goals and objectives is included as an attachment to this report.
FISCAL IMPACT:
To the extent possible goals and objectives are being addressed within the adopted departmental budgets. Some individual items will require an amendment to the adopted budget and those will be considered by Council individually. Others will require funding in future budgets and will be considered during development of the next biennial budget.
FIVE-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN:
A-8 Implement the Strategic Plan by ensuring department work programs include initiatives which achieve Strategic Plan Actions and regularly review progress and accomplishments at City Manager Department Head Meetings.
