Title: Authorize a budget amendment to carry over $95,000 in unspent funds from the Fire Department's 2023/24 FY budget to the 2024/25 FY budget for Fire Department Radios and Repeater System
RECOMMENDATION:
To authorize a budget amendment to carry over $95,000 in unspent funds from the Fire Department's 2023/24 FY budget to the 2024/25 FY budget.
BACKGROUND:
In the fiscal year (FY) 2023/24 budget, $65,000 was identified for radios and another $30,000 to update the department's aging repeater system. Due to other organizational priorities, there was a delay in ordering the needed radios and repeaters. Once the decision to order the radios and repeaters was made, the supplier's delivery time was 16 to 20 weeks. To update the radios and repeaters, the Fire Department requests the budgeted $95,000 be carried forward into the FY 2024/25 budget.
DISCUSSION:
The Fire Department has an aging radio system and repeaters that need to be upgraded.
The department is planning to move to the countywide PSEC radio system in 2025 and needs to make these upgrades to our current system.
FISCAL IMPACT:
A $95,000 budget adjustment is required for the FY General Fund budget, 100-300-330- 332-8200-8221.
