Title: Ratify the Nomination of Peter Bedard by Mayor Mark Carnevale to fill the Unexpired Vacant Seat on the Planning Commission Continuing through June 30, 2026
RECOMMENDATION:
To ratify the nomination of Peter Bedard by Mayor Mark Carnevale to fill an unexpired term on the Planning Commission and appoint him to serve for a term continuing through June 30, 2026.
BACKGROUND:
The Planning Commission currently has one vacant seat. Pursuant to City Council Resolution 2022-47, this seat shall be nominated by Mayor Mark Carnevale. The term for this vacant seat expires on June 30, 2026.
DISCUSSION:
The vacancy on the Planning Commission was posted as required by Government Code 54974 and it was noticed that applications would be received through the close of business on August 16, 2024.
Staff received two applications one from John Rivera and one from Peter Beddard. Mayor Mark Carnevale met with both applicants and it is his desire to nominate Mr. Bedard to fill the vacant seat. The applications for Mr. Bedard and Mr. Rivera are attached for your review.
Pursuant to Resolution 2022-47, staff recommends the City Council ratify Mayor Mark Carnevale’s nomination and appoint Mr. Bedard to fill the unexpired seat on the Planning Commission with a term expiring on June 30, 2026.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impaction with this action.
