Our judges will be sourced from Hollywood and be noted working industry professionals.
For the first year the fes3val will be held on one evening to ensure it’s success but in the future we do hope to create a more robust fes3val that spans over 3-7 days.
Our primary audience includes dance enthusiasts, filmmakers, students from local arts schools, and the general public, including families and tourists in Cathedral City. We an3cipate a?rac3ng 500-1000 a?endees over the fes3val period. We will also con3nue our strong local educa3onal rela3onships by giving 200 free 3ckets to dance students. We are closely affiliated with all the top dance ins3tu3ons in the desert from the Coachella Valley to Desert Hot Springs and they adore a?ending our other events.

Since 2016, the Palm Springs Dance Project has established itself as a driving force for dance in Palm Springs and the Coachella Vally. We are your local leader in dance educa3on philanthropy and unprecedented dance performances and events.
Execu3ve producer and local Darcy Caroza, has been producing events in the desert for over 30 years.

The Dance Project produced it’s own dance on film feature 3tled ‘The Anniversary’, that premiered at the Annenberg Theater and featured over 50 local ar3sts. Over the past two years the anniversary has been presented at over 10 interna3onal film fes3vals and coun3ng. THE ANNIVERSARY LINK - hZps:// www.palmspringsdance.org/the-dance-film

5. What Do You UlMmately Hope To Accomplish Through Your Proposed Art/Program/Event? How Will It Enrich Cathedral City?
Our goal is to create a vibrant cultural experience that highlights the art of dance through film, feature dance creators from both locally, the USA and interna3onally.
Enriching Cathedral City by:
- Fostering crea3ve expression and apprecia3on for the performing arts. - Bringing out of town & interna3onal ar3sts into the desert to experience the wonders of Cathedral City. - Encouraging community engagement and collabora3on through shared experiences. - Providing local ar3sts and filmmakers with a planorm to showcase their work.
Our objec3ves include:
1. Successfully hos3ng the fes3val annually.
2. Cul3va3ng an audience for dance films and nurturing local talent to create.
3. Establishing ongoing community partnerships that support future events.
We aim to include educa3onal ini3a3ves targe3ng local youth, inspiring them to explore dance and film as viable career paths and means of self-expression. We are affiliated with over ten youth dance ins3tu3ons across the Coachella Valley and we will bring them all together at this event to enjoy and inspire. By suppor3ng this program, you are fostering the growth of the minds of the youth.
We have structured the first year in a simple and efficient fashion to ensure we keep pre fes3val prepara3ons and the event achievable.
Plans for Con3nua3on
⁃ We will establish 3cket sales and addi3onal corporate sponsorships to generate revenue. ⁃ Offering premium membership packages for early 3cket access to foster community support. ⁃ Growing our youth educa3on to more schools throughout the Cathedral City. ⁃ Seeking addi3onal grants and partnerships with local businesses to sustain funding.
History of Maintaining Services:
The Palm Springs Dance Project has successfully organized dance events and workshops, receiving ongoing support from local arts founda3ons and genera3ng revenue through 3cket sales and private sponsorships.
Our history demonstrates a commitment to con3nually enriching the arts community, and we aim to leverage our experience to sustain this fes3val for years to come.
By implemen3ng these strategies, we hope to create a las3ng cultural impact that brings the community together around the love of dance and film.
*A?achments may be included with your submission. If including photos, files can be no larger than 20 mb.
6. If Your Art/Program/Event Costs More Than You Are RequesMng From The Community Arts Grant Program, How Do You Plan To Pay For The AddiMonal Costs?
Low Risk - High Reward: One of the benefits about a Dance On Film Fes3val is that all film and music rights have already been accounted and paid for by the ar3sts submiqng to be presented. There is no risk from the film fes3vals standpoint regarding copyright infringement.
We will be using the film freeway online planorm to gather film submissions and also obtain a small profit through submission fees ($9 per submission). Because of the Palm Springs dance projects, renowned reputa3on, I predict we will get over 200 submissions and thus this will bring over $2,000 in addi3onal funding. Film Freeway is a worldwide planorm that almost all films go through when being submi?ed to fes3vals and dance on film has never been more popular than in this age of online representa3on. All ar3sts looking to be presented at the dance on film fes3val will find us easy on film freeway and fell comfortable submiqng while feeling excited & confident in their opportunity. h?ps://filmfreeway.com/
We have over 10 close friends of the project who are always happy to host out of town visitors. If any of the filmmakers plan to a?end, we are more than prepared to assist in accommoda3on. There is an allure to the desert these days and many ar3sts are looking for the opportunity to visit the Coachella Valley. We have found that they love the community aspect of these accommoda3ons as opposed to a hotel or Airbnb.
We have our large VIP donors, John Monahan and The Western Wind founda3on who are always happy to assist in any of our projects when we are perhaps a li?le low on achieving our full budget.
7. Do You Plan To ConMnue This Art/Program/Event Beyond The Period For Which You Have Requested The Funds? If So, How Do You Plan To ConMnue Paying For It? We plan on con3nuing this fes3val annually, cura3ng a strong VIP invite list for the first fes3val to ensure future interest and dona3ons. We also plan to engage our previous donors and Long 3me affiliates and con3nue the excitement we bring to the dance industry locally.
As this fes3val can be achieved through a rela3vely low budget, we are excited about the opportunity to start strong with the partnership of the Cathedral City Council.
8. (OPTIONAL) Is There Anything That You Would Like To Add? If So, Please Tell Us Here:
It has long been now intention to diversify and grow out of the Palm Springs community into the greater region and this is one of our first initiatives to begin that growth. As well, we have currently been in talks with CV-Rep about producing an annual live dance presentation of the highest caliber with professional dances from across the USA.
We relish the opportunity to talk to you further about our passions and objectives, and we hope you are excited about our vision.
