CITY OF CATHEDRAL CITY
68-700 AVENIDA LALO GUERRERO/ CATHEDRAL CITY, CA 92234
Dear Mayor and Council Members,
I am writing to express my intent to serve on the Cathedral City Historical Preservation Committee. My unique qualifications include over five years of experience in historic preservation at the Agua Caliente Tribal Historic Preservation Office (THPO) and current board membership with training in the Native American Graves Protection and Reparations Act (NAGPRA). I am eager to apply my expertise to help safeguard and promote our city's rich history.

Since its establishment on January 9, 2019, the committee has played a crucial role in reviewing projects related to historic resources. I appreciate its efforts in recommending to the City Council and Planning Commission and advocating for regulations that preserve our city's rich heritage.

I have served on the Agua Caliente Museum Board of Directors for three years, strengthening my understanding of community engagement and historical research. I am passionate about creating inclusive programs that educate the community and reflect diverse voices in our city's history.

I look forward to bringing innovative ideas and a collaborative spirit to the committee, fostering partnerships, and enhancing public awareness of our historical assets.

Thank you for considering my application. I am genuinely excited about the opportunity to contribute to preserving Cathedral City's unique character through the Historical Preservation Committee.

Sincerely,
Sunshine R. Herrera
