DISCUSSION:
Staff posted a notice of the upcoming Commission/Committee terms expiring on June 30, 2025, at the Cathedral City Senior Center, Library and City Hall. The notice also went out on social media and was posted on the City’s website. Applications were accepted through close of business on May 16, 2025. Applications received were provided to the appropriate nominating Councilmembers for their review and nomination consideration.
The following information is provided for consideration as Council ratifies the recommended nominations.
Planning Commission (One seat):
Staff received an application from Danny Lee requesting reappointment.
Architectural Review Committee (Two seats):
Staff received two applications, one from Dean Keefer and one from Tanner Hoss. Tanner Hoss is eligible for reappointment. Dean Keefer has completed two consecutive terms on the Architectural Review Committee, however, the Cathedral City Municipal Code has a provision that allows the City Council to waive the term limit for one additional term if it is in the best interest of the City. This would require the affirmative vote of four members of the City Council.
Historic Preservation Committee (Two seats):
Staff received three applications. Eri Nox and John Rivera submitted an application for reappointment. Both incumbents are eligible for reappointment. An Additional application was received from Kevin Montreuil.
Parks and Community Events (One seat):
Staff received two applications, one from Ashley McGullam and one from Dakin Straub. The incumbent did not wish to be reappointed.
Public Arts Commission (One seat):
Staff received three applications, one from Ashley McGallum, one from Michael Olich and one from Kara Robinson. The incumbent did not wish to be reappointed.
Applications for those that are nominated for appointment are also provided for your information.
