On The Eve is an exhibition and series of creativity and community workshops that explore and celebrate the impact of eight global female environmentalists. These environmentalists have dedicated their work to protecting the environment and shaping modernday environmentalism. The exhibition will be held from March 2026 through September 2026 in Cathedral City, and the workshops will take place throughout the exhibit.

The exhibit will feature portraiture and visual biography of the eight, along with youthcreated artworks. The work created by elementary, middle, and high school students is themed around the questions:

1. Which environmentalist inspires you?

2. What will you do for your environment?

The environmentalists highlighted are:

1. Rachel Carson  American marine biologist, author, and conservationist, whose book Silent Spring exposed the dangers of pesticides and their impact on the environment and wildlife.

2. Jane Goodall  British ethologist, primatologist, and conservationist who has spent over 60 years studying chimpanzees in Tanzania's Gombe Stream National Park. Her work has redefined the relationship between humans and animals.

3. Greta Thunberg  Swedish environmentalist known for challenging world leaders to take action to mitigate the effects of climate change.

4. Isatou Ceesay  Gambian activist referred to as the Queen of Recycling, initiating the recycling movement in Gambia called One Plastic Bag.

5. Wangari Maathai  Kenyan environmental activist and founder of the Green Belt Movement, which focused on planting trees. She was the first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

6. Berta Caceres  Honduran activist and indigenous leader, cofounder of the Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras. She won the Goldman Environmental Prize, one of the most prestigious awards for environmental activism.

7. Marina Silva  Brazilian politician and environmentalist, who serves as the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change.

8. Vandana Shiva  Indian scholar, environmental activist, food sovereignty advocate, and author. She is called the "Ghandi of Grain" for her activism associated with the antiGMO movement.

To complement the exhibition, S.C.R.A.P. Gallery and CVArt Projects will cohost a series of three On The Eve Of public workshops.

These workshops are not just about observing but participating. They will feature handson activities for children and adults and the opportunity to interact with S.C.R.A.P. Gallery and CVAP artists.
