RECOMMENDATION:
To authorize the purchase of one (1) Ford Maverick for the Building and Safety Department, at a total cost of $32,926.71; and authorize the City Manager, or his designee, to execute all required documents for purchase.
BACKGROUND:
In the FY 2025/26 Budget, a vacant Permit Technician I/II position was converted into a Building Inspector I/II position. Concurrently, the professional services contract for on-call building plan check and inspection services was reduced by $180,000 annually. The newly created Building Inspector position has been recruited and a candidate is in the background process.
With the new Building Inspector position, there is a corresponding need for an additional work vehicle. The purchase of a new vehicle will ensure that the new inspector is properly equipped to perform field inspections and other duties efficiently, helping to maintain the department’s service levels. Funding for vehicle purchase was planned as part of the adopted FY 2025/26 Budget.
DISCUSSION:
Staff is requesting the purchase of one 2025 Ford Maverick XL for Building and Safety in the amount of $31,426.71. Fleet obtained quotes from the following vendors:

Staff also reached out to Jessup Chevrolet; however, they did not have a comparable pickup available to provide a quote.
In addition to the purchase of the above cited pickup trucks, Staff is requesting funds for the installation of emergency lighting and decals in the amount of $1,500.
Staff is requesting City Council authorize the purchase of one 2025 Ford Maverick XL truck with emergency lighting and decals at a cost of $32,926.71 and authorize the City Manager to execute all required documents for the purchases.
