Staff Report
City Council
Item No. 6.A
Meeting Date: September 10, 2025
From: Tracey Hermosillo, City Clerk
Title: Interview Applicant for the Mobile Home Fair Practices Commission and Consider Making an Appointment to fill a Vacant Seat.

RECOMMENDATION:

Interview the applicant, Mr. Erik Castillo, and consider making an appointment to fill the vacant seat on the Mobile Home Fair Practices Commission.

BACKGROUND:

The Mobile Home Fair Practices Commission was established by Ordinance 48, which was adopted by the voters of Cathedral City on March 8, 1983. This Commission only meets when staff receives a request for a determination from either a park tenant or park owner.

The last time the City received a request for determination was in 2022.

DISCUSSION:

The Mobile Home Fair Practices Commission is made up of five members, currently there is one vacancy. Staff received an application from Mr. Erik Castillo to serve on the Mobile Home Fair Practices Commission, which is attached for your review. Staff recommends that the City Council conduct an interview with Mr. Castillo and consider appointing him to fill the vacant seat on the Mobile Home Fair Practices Commission on an as needed basis.

Appointing Mr. Castillo will ensure that the City has a full Commission in the event we receive a request for determination.
