Title: Designation of a Voting Delegate and Alternate for the League of California Cities Annual Business Meeting on October 10, 2025.
RECOMMENDATION:
To adopt a resolution designating Mayor Nancy Ross as the Voting Delegate and Mayor Pro Tem Raymond Gregory as the Alternate Voting Delegate to represent Cathedral City at the League of California Cities Annual Business Meeting, which will be held on October 10, 2025.
BACKGROUND:
Cathedral City is a member of the League of California Cities. Each year the League holds an Annual Conference. This year the conference will be held October 8 – 10, 2025, in Long Beach at the Long Beach Convention Center.
DISCUSSION:
An important part of the Annual Conference is the Annual Business Meeting, which will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025. At this meeting, the League membership will consider and take action on resolutions that establish League policy. In order for Cathedral City to vote at the Annual Business Meeting, Council must designate a voting delegate and up to two alternates. Procedures have been established intended to ensure the integrity of the voting process at the Annual Business Meeting and are attached in the letter dated July 16, 2025 (Attachment A). As indicated in the letter and consistent with the League bylaws, it is requested the City Council designate a voting delegate and up to two alternates, by Council action, to represent the City at this meeting. This action must be submitted to the League no later than September 24, 2025. This year Mayor Nancy Ross, Mayor Pro Tem Raymond Gregory, and Councilmembers Mark Carnevale and Rita Lamb will be attending the conference. It is staff’s recommendation that the City Council designate Mayor Nancy Ross as the voting delegate and Mayor Pro Tem Raymond Gregory as the alternate for the annual business meeting. Attached for Council’s consideration is a resolution (Attachment B) which includes the designation of Mayor Nancy Ross as the voting delegate and Mayor Pro Tem Raymond Gregory as the alternate, which will satisfy the League’s requirements enabling Cathedral City to participate in the Annual Business Meeting.
