Title: Approval of the Parks and Community Events Commission Support of the Esperanza Park Community Health Fair – 2026
RECOMMENDATION:
To approve $500 from the Parks and Community Events Commission (PACE) FY 2025–2026 PACE Small Events Budget to support the Esperanza Park Community Health Fair event for February 2026.
BACKGROUND:
The Parks and Community Events Commission (PACE) continues to support programs and events that enhance quality of life, promote community engagement, and expand access to services for Cathedral City residents. As part of the approved Fiscal Year 2025–2026 budget, PACE was allocated $10,000 annually to support small-scale community events held in city parks. This may include services and/or materials, or a combination thereof, related to the event to assist in the event’s success. All events initiated to receive funding from this budget item are first vetted by the PACE and upon PACE’s favorable recommendation, these events are then brought before the City Council for final approval of funding.
At the January 6, 2026, PACE meeting, the Commissioners reviewed and approved the proposed Esperanza Park Community Health Fair event and recommended the City Council approve $500 in funding to support the event for incidentals. The event was sponsored by Commissioner Mario Jimenez, who brought the proposal forward for the Commission’s consideration.
The Esperanza Park Community Health Fair is intended to provide residents with free access to health services, wellness education, and community resources, with an emphasis on underserved populations.
DISCUSSION:
The Esperanza Park Community Health Fair will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The event will focus on health, wellness, and expanding access to care for the community.
Planned services and activities include:

The event is being held in partnership with the Desert Healthcare District and Foundation, Desert Recreation District, and the Cathedral City Parks and Community Events Commission.
