Item No. 2.B
Meeting Date: May 5, 2026
From: John A. Corella, Director of Public Works
Sponsors: Commissioner Angel Herrera and Commissioner Ashley McGullam Title: Paint with PACE Event Series
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommend the Parks and Community Events Commission (PACE) approve the Paint with PACE event series and authorize allocation of $1,200 from the PACE Small Events Budget and forward the program and funding request to the City Council for final consideration and approval.
BACKGROUND:
The Parks and Community Events Commission (PACE) provides opportunities to engage the community and raise awareness of park and community resources throughout the city.
As part of its charge, the Commission may initiate, review, and support community events and programs that promote recreation, health, and community engagement.
PACE maintains an annual Small Events budget of $10,000, which may be used to fund all or a portion of community events. All proposed events are reviewed by PACE, and if funding is recommended, the item is forwarded to the City Council for final approval.
DISCUSSION:
The Paint with PACE event series is proposed as a summer pilot program consisting of one class per month during June, July, and August 2026. Classes will be held at the Cathedral City Library community room on the third Monday of each month:
June 15, 2026
July 20, 2026
August 17, 2026
Each class will run approximately 90 minutes, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and will be offered in a drop-in format for youth ages 6–14. Attendance is estimated at approximately 15–20 participants per class.
The program is designed to expand access to arts programming for youth in the community, 1 4
