Construction is underway to address
traffic congestion and improve safety
where Ramon Road narrows at the Ramon
Road Bridge over the Whitewater River.
The bridge carries approximately 40,000
vehicles daily, serving as a key regional
connection. Improvements to the bridge,
pedestrian and bike amenities, and
roadway between San Luis Rey Drive and
Candlewood Drive will help accommodate
existing demand while preparing for future
commuter growth in the area.
Construction begins on the Ramon Road
Bridge Project in fall 2026.
This project will improve traffic flow, increase
safety, and enhance connections for drivers,
pedestrians, and cyclists.
• Widens the existing bridge from a 4-lane
arterial to a 6-lane arterial
• Improves traffic flow and shortens wait times
with new dedicated turn lanes
• Seismic retrofitting to withstand significant
earthquake activity
• Flood resilience to enhance stability during
storms
• New pedestrian and cyclist improvements
• Connections to CV Link and other trails
making it easier to cross the wash
• Two lanes of traffic in each
direction will be maintained
• Access to all driveways will be
maintained
• Work will primarily occur during
daytime hours, with some night
work as needed
• T raffic signals will be adjusted to
support traffic flow
• Regular communications and
construction alerts
