Alight
Esperanza Park Roundabout
Cathedral City, California
There’s a rainbow rising out of Esperanza Park!
And of course there’s a little bit of gold too
because we’re at the base of this rainbow
where colorful butterflies flutter.
‘Alight’ features three large, colorfully patterned butterflies flitting about rainbow columns within the roundabout.
These butterflies are a special kind seen nowhere else in the world! Their bright mosaic patterns of color
will be inspired by butterfly designs created and submitted by local children using a butterfly coloring page,
created by the artist, then printed and distributed by the city.
At night, lights at the perimeter of the roundabout shine up through the rainbow columns to show off the butterflies against the night sky.
