Owner Gregory Electric
My name is Colby Gregory, and I respectfully submit my interest in being appointed to the Cathedral City Planning Commission. As a lifelong resident, small business owner, and contractor, I am deeply invested in the physical development and long term functionality of our city.
My interest in serving on the Planning Commission comes from a genuine appreciation for how thoughtful planning shapes a community. Land use decisions, zoning, infrastructure coordination, and development standards all play a critical role in how a city functions day to day. I am motivated by the opportunity to contribute to decisions that ensure growth is practical, well-executed, and aligned with the needs of residents.
Professionally, as the owner of Gregory Electric, I work directly within the built environment. My experience includes reading and interpreting construction plans, understanding building and safety requirements, coordinating with general contractors, engineers, and inspectors, and navigating permitting and compliance processes. I regularly see how planning decisions translate from paper into real-world outcomes— both when projects are well thought out and when they fall short. This perspective has given me a strong appreciation for clarity, feasibility, and accountability in development.
I bring a practical, detail oriented mindset to problem solving and understand the importance of consistency in applying codes and standards. I also recognize the need to balance development with infrastructure capacity, neighborhood compatibility, and long-term maintenance considerations. As someone who lives and works in Cathedral City, I have a personal stake in ensuring that projects contribute positively to the community and are built to serve residents effectively over time.
In addition, I value clear communication and collaboration. Planning decisions often involve input from staff, applicants, and the public, and I am committed to listening carefully, asking thoughtful questions, and making decisions based on facts, standards, and long-term impact rather than short-term pressures.
I would be honored to serve on the Planning Commission and contribute a grounded, real-world perspective to the review of projects and policies that shape Cathedral City.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Colby Gregory
