LETTER OF INTEREST

PARKS AND COMMUNITY EVENTS COMMISSION

May 5th, 2026

Dear Cathedral City Council,

While many things make Cathedral City unique, the deep sense of community, connection, and belonging are particularly special. My desire to further these values and experiences for all residents is what drives me to submit this letter of interest. It would be an honor to act as a liaison between city residents and the city council on this commission.

I believe my professional experiences provide me with the relevant skills and knowledge to be an effective contributor to the Parks and Community Events Commission. As someone who leads complex purchasing evaluations as a technology sales professional, stakeholder engagement ( both internal and external), active listening, clear communication, and consensus-building are key strengths of mine that would be valuable on a commission that relies on community feedback and external partnerships. Additionally, having served as a co-chair for a multicultural employee resource group in a global company of over 5,000 employees, I have experience organizing events, allocating budgets strategically, and making data-driven assessments of success. Lastly, my lived experiences in being an avid user of our public parks and serving on the steering committee for our comprehensive code and zoning updates have only increased my interest in advocating for our public spaces.

I appreciate your consideration and look forward to further discussing the opportunity to serve on the Parks and Community Events Commission.

Kindly,

Erik Castillo
