Dear Members of the Appointing Authority,
I am writing to express my strong interest in serving on the Cathedral City Parks and Community Events Commission, or the Public Arts Commission. Having called Cathedral City home for the past two years, I have developed a deep appreciation for this community and a genuine desire to contribute to its future.

Throughout my career, I have built a reputation as a marketing and events professional passionate about bringing people together and creating meaningful community experiences. I am eager to bring that same energy and commitment to Cathedral City.

My professional experience spans large-scale event production, community relations, and corporate sponsorships. At Marshall Field’s Department Stores in Chicago, I oversaw the production of more than 200 events annually, including the iconic Thanksgiving Day Parade.

During a decade with Starbucks, I led community events and philanthropic programming across multiple markets, including the Santa Monica Ice Skating Rink and Komen Race for the Cure events in Dallas, Los Angeles, and San Diego. I have also managed high-profile celebrity appearances for talent such as Tina Turner and Ellen DeGeneres, and produced Arts gatherings, including the Chicago Museum of Art’s “First Thursdays” social events to promote memberships and Arts awareness.

In addition to my event experience, I am a skilled collaborator who thrives in team environments. I have a strong track record of building partnerships and negotiating agreements that align with shared community goals — qualities I believe are essential for effective commission service.

While this would be my first appointment to a city commission, I am confident that my professional background, genuine investment in this community, and collaborative spirit make me a valuable addition to the Commission. I would be honored to serve Cathedral City in this capacity.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I welcome the opportunity to discuss how I can contribute to the Commission’s important work.

Sincerely,
Montey K. Dunn
