Letter of Interest – Architectural Review Committee Reappointment April 9, 2026
Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council,
Thank you for the opportunity to be considered for reappointment to the Architectural Review Committee.

Serving on the Committee since 2019—and as Chair for the past two years—has been both an honor and a responsibility I take seriously. I am proud to contribute to the thoughtful growth and evolution of Cathedral City, ensuring that development reflects the vision, standards, and character that make our community unique.

I wish to continue serving because I care deeply about the future of our City. The Architectural Review Committee plays a critical role in shaping that future, and I value the opportunity to collaborate with staff, fellow committee members, applicants, and the public to ensure projects are reviewed with consistency, fairness, and a focus on long-term community benefit.

My professional background spans more than two decades in real estate, development awareness, and business leadership. As a Broker Associate and Assistant Broker, I work closely with residential, commercial, and investment properties, giving me a practical understanding of site planning, architectural design considerations, and market dynamics. This perspective allows me to evaluate projects not only for compliance, but also for how they contribute to the overall functionality and livability of our community.

In addition to my professional experience, my ongoing leadership and service at the local and state levels—including involvement with REALTOR® associations, community organizations, and regional initiatives—has strengthened my ability to approach decisions thoughtfully, objectively, and collaboratively. My role as Chair has further reinforced the importance of clear communication, balanced discussion, and ensuring that each project is considered on its individual merits.

Over the years, I have developed a strong understanding of the City’s processes, zoning considerations, and design expectations. I believe continuity on the Committee is valuable, and I am committed to maintaining a fair, consistent, and transparent approach in all deliberations.

I respectfully ask for your consideration for reappointment so I may continue contributing to the City of Cathedral City in this capacity.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Stephen Burchard
