RESOLUTION NO. 2026 -
A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CATHEDRAL
CITY, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE
FINANCIAL SERVICES DIRECTOR TO ACT AS THE OFFICIAL DESIGNEES FOR THE 2026 PROPOSITION 64 PUBLIC HEALTH & SAFETY GRANT PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, Cathedral City applied for the 2026 Proposition 64 Public Health & Safety Grant Program to support Cathedral City’s Proposition 64 Public Safety and Enforcement Program; and
WHEREAS, the City Council intends to accept and enter into a grant agreement regarding a grant from the State of California, Board of State and Community Corrections (“BSCC”) Corrections Planning and Grant Programs (“CPGP”) Division in the amount of $4,500,000 to address the significant public safety, public health, youth protection, and environmental impacts (“BSCC Grant”); and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to assign staff as Official Designees to enter into the above-referenced grant agreement with State of California, Board of State and Community Corrections (“BSCC”) Corrections Planning and Grant Programs (“CPGP”) Division for the 2026 Proposition 64 Public Health & Safety Grant Program and authorize all amendments.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Cathedral City
1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein by this reference.
2. The grant funds provided under the BSCC Grant shall not supplant, replace, or substitute for funds that would otherwise be available or appropriated for the same purpose;
3. Upon execution of the BSCC Grant agreement, the City agrees to abide by all terms and conditions of the BSCC Grant agreement, including all exhibits, attachments, and documents incorporated by reference (“Grant Agreement”).
4. The City Manager and the Financial Services Director are hereby authorized to act as the Official Designees to execute the Grant Agreement and amendments for the 2026 Proposition 64 Public Health & Safety Grant Program between July 1, 2026 to December 31, 2031, including all exhibits, attachments, and documents incorporated by reference.
