Consent Item 7
TO: East Bay Community Energy Board of Directors
FROM: Taj Ait-Laoussine, VP Technology & Analytics
SUBJECT: Software as a Service Agreement with Camus Energy DATE: March 16, 2022
__________________________________________________________________ Recommendation
Adopt a Resolution authorizing the CEO to negotiate and execute a Software as a Service Agreement with Camus Energy Inc. for a term of up to 3 years, and total cost of up to $170,000, with the first-year fees set at $70,000, and an option to renew for 2 subsequent years at a cost of $50,000 per year.
Background and Discussion
EBCE is a data pioneer and innovator, having built and deployed a robust cloud-based infrastructure for the storage, transfer, processing, and reporting of data that is unparalleled in the CCA space. EBCE is continuously looking to expand its capabilities, either by internally developing new solutions or implementing those of best-in-class providers.
There is currently a gap in EBCE’s internal data visualization capabilities, particularly as it relates to the display of information in map-based environments. The proposed engagement with Camus would allow EBCE to license Camus Energy’s map-based visualization capabilities, which can be easily integrated into EBCE’s existing infrastructure, to fill that gap.
The Agreement also makes provisions for establishing open-source shared code repositories that both parties will contribute to, and which could be used to support future engagements with other CCAs as well as the continuing expansion of EBCE’s Consent Item 7
data platform. EBCE is already collaborating with Camus Energy and Silicon Valley Clean Energy to deploy a combination of both parties’ solutions.
Fiscal Impact
The cost of service for the first year will be $70,000, which is split between a $50,000 service fee and a $20,000 set up fee. The contract can be renewed for a total term of up to 3 years, and at an additional cost of $50,000 per year. The total contract cost for 3 years is therefore $170,000.
