Background: This project provided for repair of floor displacement between the loading dock and office/warehouse building at the Millbrae Yard ’s warehouse. A 2019 evaluation revealed the presence of expansive clay layers below the concrete slab , which are subject to swelling and shrinkage due to moisture. The concrete slab experienced large uplift forces due to the swelling and shrinkage that cracked the loading dock slab and tilted the loading dock retaining wall, which required repairs.
The project was located in SFPUC’s Water Department, 1000 El Camino Real, Millbrae, CA . The Water Supply and Treatment Division ( WSTD) uses the warehouse for administrative staff office workspace, supplies storage, and vehicle maintenance.
On January 2 7, 1999, by Resolution 09- 0017, the Commission delegated to the General Manager the authority t o award contracts below the Threshold Limit. On January 27, 2021, t he General Manager award ed Contract WD -2870(I), Millbrae Loading Dock Repair, to Ronan Construction, Inc.
